Of course there were all the “firsts” that we were priviledged to see Katie go through, and of course Matthew was going through his “Three’s”. Some of our 2007 memories came from our family trip to Montreal, and then there was the great results Dave posted in the Pittsburgh general election in his race for our neighborhood’s Pittsburgh City Council seat. Probably the most challenging part of 2007, however, had to be all the family illness’ between Thanksgiving & New Years, along with the car wreck Dave was involved in on his way to work one night in December (or more importantly, the search for a reliable replacement vehicle, which at this time is still in the air)!

With 2007 behind us, though, 2008 looks great, and we welcome it with open arms. A good part will be spent getting back to everything that was put on hold after the accident, not to mention improving our financial situation. With a Presidential Election in full swing now, we also anticipate Dave’s participation in one of the Candidate’s local campaign teams this fall. But most of all, we just look forward to spending more time as a family, and creating more memories to remember 2008 by!

You are all in our thoughts & prayers, and we hope you are all doing well, and we wish you all the best in the coming year. And of course, always feel free to get in touch with us throughout the year. Dave has committed to update this page more frequently (especially now that he has updated this page with an improved web template & blog program), so also feel free to visit this page throughout the year for updates!

God bless, and may you have a joyous & fulfilling New Year!

With all that has happened this year, it has been a busy one to say the least! Over the next few days & weeks, I’m sure we will reflect on some of what has happened, but to start, I think our most recent mailing summarized the year best, and thought it would be appropriate to post a copy of it here. To be continued!

Happy Holidays!

Dear Family & Friends, near & far;

Well another year has come & gone, and we just wanted to take a moment to reflect on all the events & changes our family has seen over the past 12 months. Some of the highlights include:

The arrival of the newest member of our Family! Katherine (Katie) Elizabeth was born August 18th, and simply put, she has been just a joy. We are all enjoying & adjusting to life with the new baby;

Matthew is in preschool and is learning a lot! He turned 3 this year and is 150% boy! He really shines in his new role of ‘big brother.’ You can see just how loving and proud he is of his little sister;

Dave is still working as a Pittsburgh 9-1-1 medical & police dispatcher. Talk about stress, but he handles it beautifully. He also did a lot of community work this year as treasurer of our neighborhood group, working with other groups to organize & moderate a public debate between candidates running for State Rep, raising over 21,000$ for a nearby family that lost their home to fire, and finally by running Pittsburgh city council himself & getting a respectable showing. This is not to mention all the work he has done on the house!

Sarah is still working at MSA (Management Science Associates) and is busy raising the kids! This past summer/fall was a great time to spend with our new daughter and watching Matthew enjoy the outdoors. She is truly the glue that keeps this family together!

This year Sarah & Dave also enjoyed a well deserved vacation to the Netherlands, visiting family, and meeting many pleasurable people along the way! Thank you all for making the trip across the pond so enjoyable! Matthew, mean while, got to spend quality time with GrandMa & Grandpa. Thanks Nana & Pap-Pap!

Tentative plans for next year? To rent a condo & spend 2 weeks in Montreal in June & July, and enjoy the Jazz Fest & Fireworks Competitions! Hope to see you there!

Well that does it for us this year! For those who may not have already been aware, all are welcome to get updates on our goings-on by visiting our family website at http://TheSchuilenburgs.Net. And should you live in the Montreal area, don’t forget reaching us is a simple as a local phone call to our Montreal phone number at (514) 448-2445! We love you all and for those that are far away – our hearts are with you! May you truly be blessed this holiday season and always.

Love,
Dave, Sarah, Matthew & Katie!

Well, after many up & downs in trying to get the page up to date, we have finally succeeded in getting things up & running again.

To the many of you who may have visited and either found broken links or a dead page, we apologize for the inconvience & thank you for your patience.

If you have visited our site recently prior to December 7th, you may already be aware we had made efforts to update the page by switching to a blog format. This decision was made for multiple reasons, including being more estetically appealing and requiring less back end coding, which is what usually consumes the most time when web editing. But the most important reason we chose to go with a blog format is because it would allow each of us to update the page much quicker, including to be able to post updates via email, a very unique & time saving feature!

Suffice to say, just as we were getting used to the new format & features,our efforts were temporarily in vain as we encountered a severe problem with our previous hosting company. I do not want to go into much detail as to what those problems were as I am still hammering our some issues with them; but I can say we have since found a more reputable & stable hosting company, and have since started over. As such, we ask for a little more patience as we restore our website, including pictures & such, as we believe you will enjoy the end product.

Thanks again,
Dave & the family!
